Really Pro-Life Platform for a Christian Third Party

The Spanish have a saying, Pan para hoy, hambre para mañana, or Bread for today, hunger for tomorrow, and that just about nails down the economic implications of the rush for homosexual marriage. Businesses filed Friend of the Court briefs in huge numbers before the Supreme Court decision, and Marriott summed it up in their celebratory statement as reported by NPR: gays have more disposable income than families with kids, and we want that dough. Mars bars, Apple, Starbucks, Amazon, New York Life and Levi Strauss, 278 in all were eager to throw marriage under the bus for a cut of the action.

That bread dough has a shelf-life, of course. It expires with the next generation–oops, what generation? And then we shall know the hunger. Continue reading

Sign the Petition to Support Hungary!

Please note:  SSPX does have mass in Budapest, Hungary, on the second and third Sundays of the month at 10:00, as well as 6:00 on the Saturday evenings preceding the Sunday.   The celebrant is Father Fuchs. The address is Thokoly Ut 116.1.3, #3. More information may be obtained from Mr. Landgrebe, who speaks English, at the Austria rectory  +4327166515 (how Google Voice renders it, which worked for me calling from the US)  or +43 (0) 2716/6515 (how the Austrian website renders it and perhaps for European dialers). Let’s go show Hungary some love.

Above is a link  to sign a petition to support Hungary.  For the sake of Hungary’s unborn children, do it now. The text of the petition follows if you would like to read it here and sign it there.

The Hungarian American association supports Hungary, has thoroughly examined the means by which Viktor Orban came to power and calls them unquestionably democratic, and asks that the West give Hungary a chance. Continue reading

The Savior App

At midday on the solemnity of the Epiphany, the Holy Father spoke to the faithful assembled outside his windows to pray the Angelus.

…. Western society,” the Holy Father said, “seems to have lost direction and is  feeling its way forward.  The Church, thanks to the word of God, see beyond the  shadows. She does not possess technical solutions but she has her gaze turned to the final destination offering the light of the gospel to all men and women of  goodwill, of whatever nation or culture.”

Dearest Holy Father, what do you mean, no technical solutions! We have apps!

The Restore Point in Health Care is Christ and His Church

As part of the health care debate, Dr. Jeffrey Sachs uncompromisingly indicts capitalism on NPR’s production of the Commonwealth Club on October 26; it is apparently not archived, but similar views may be expected in his book, The Price of Civilization. His conclusion is wrong, insofar as he ultimately recommends, like the Wall Street protesters whom he admires,  only that we tax the very rich. Continue reading

One Two Three What’re We Dyin’ For?

The pictures from Baghdad are unbearably hard to view. Catholics on the steps of their altar, the blood pooled around them. Killed in the very act of worship. Killed ironically during the holy sacrifice of the Mass, in which the Body and Blood of Christ are offered once again to His Father for the salvation of the world. This time they, too, were sacrificed. The attack on 31 October comes after many months of increased violence against Catholics, generally perpetuated by Muslims, but also by Hindus.

When one uses the term ‘increased’ one indicates that there was a preceding period in which there was less violence, and it is true that there preceded this period one in which Catholics and Muslims, and Catholics and Hindus, lived in a state of mutual tolerance occasionally punctuated by breaks in that norm. This escalation is recent. It is new, and it is well to ask ourselves why.

The reason is Vatican II. Don’t sigh! Read on!

Planned Parenthood to South Korea: Oops, We Destroyed You! Sorry!

In the astonishingly frank 2009 interview linked here, the head of Korean Planned Parenthood , Mr. Choi Seon-jeony, details the depth of Korea’s depopulation crisis and the transformation it has wreaked upon Planned Parenthood itself. Go read it, but if you don’t have time, you will find a short summary below. The reader may notice inconsistencies in the summary; they are present in the original.

Catholics Save Wall Street!

It’s the near future, but the same old story. The market has been spiraling downward for several quarters. What began as a minor bump in the road, a little overextension in the sub-prime market, has lasted long enough to be called a recession, and lately even the big D word has begun to join the dismal chant. Nothing’s helped, the old slight-of-hand with interest rates, pitiful attempts to jack productivity, then increasingly ‘socialist’ efforts to spread some remaining wealth around. Nothing’s worked. Everything has gone to hell.

Then, out of nowhere: voila, hello, here comes the cavalry! Can you believe it? It’s the Catholics! In the face of severe economic adversity, they have launched a cultural war.
